Austin City Limits Music Festival 2026
Two weekends at Zilker, and every road around the park closed to through traffic.
Zilker Park sits in a pocket of Austin with a handful of ways in, and ACL closes most of them. Barton Springs Road, Stratford Drive, and Azie Morton Road all shut to through traffic during festival hours. That is the part people underestimate when they plan the day.
The 2026 festival runs two weekends: October 2 through 4, then October 9 through 11. Same lineup both weekends. Weekend one tends to pull the heavier out-of-town crowd, so ABIA and the hotel corridor peak that first Thursday and Friday.
What follows is where a vehicle can actually put you, how far the walk is from each spot, and where the evening usually goes wrong.

Getting there, and getting out
Where drop-off actually happens
The festival designates three vehicle drop-off and pickup zones: under the MoPac pedestrian bridge at Veterans Drive, on Lee Barton Drive between Riverside and Barton Springs Road, and on Wallingford Drive. From any of them you are walking 5 to 15 minutes to a gate, depending on the zone and which entrance you want. Nobody is dropped at the park entrance. Not rideshare, not a private car, not you in your own vehicle. Anyone who tells you otherwise has not driven it.
Which zone to pick
Lee Barton Drive sits between Riverside and Barton Springs Road, which means it can be reached from the south without crossing the closure ring. Veterans Drive under the MoPac bridge is usually the shorter drive if you are coming from downtown. Wallingford is the quietest of the three and the longest walk. The right answer depends on where you are starting, not on which one is objectively best.
Getting in is easy. Leaving is the problem.
Afternoon arrivals are straightforward. The failure point is the hour after the headliner, when the park empties at once and every rideshare app in a two mile radius surges together. Wait times stretch badly. A scheduled pickup does not shorten the walk to the zone, and we want to be honest about that. What it removes is the second wait, the one that happens after the walk, standing in a crowd watching a price climb.
Groups of six or more
Zilker has no group staging area, so a party that splits across two vehicles usually splits across two zones and spends twenty minutes finding each other. One Sprinter to one zone keeps the group together for the walk in. It is less flexible and it is the thing we would book for our own family.
Airport timing during festival weekends
ABIA runs heavy the Thursday and Friday before each weekend, and the southbound run from the airport crosses the same traffic everyone else is in. Build in extra time on those days rather than cutting an arrival close.
